QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS

1-How long has been the school active? The first teaching team began in 1985. Ever since, without interruptions, with the same pedagogic philosophy and the same person in charge of its direction, the school has been functioning "generating" spinologists.
The European School of Spinology is, at the present time, the only accredited teaching institution of Spinologists in Europe.

2-What are the career opportunities after graduation? Opportunities for certified spinologists are excellent! Graduates are expected to enter private practice, either alone or in association with other Spinologists. Income potential will be determined by the same intangible of skill, personality and willingness to work that determine the success of any other professional practice.
While the success level of any graduate is largely determined by the individual, specific courses in the curriculum are directed toward success training, motivation and good, sound, ethical business procedures.
Additionally, plans are being developed for national advertising campaigns in Spain, Peru and Ireland to stimulate public demand for Spinology services.

3- Are jobs available near the school? The economy of the nation and job opportunities vary from month to month, but the Valencia area has an excellent record of employment opportunity compared with other areas of the country. Also, spinologists in the area help students in that regard. The Irish School is located south of Dublin and excellent opportunities are available very nearby.

4- What about housing?Valencia is a large city of 1.000.000 habitants and Greystones is a beatiful small city of 18.000 residents, 18 miles south of Dublin. Many apartments are available within walking distance. The price range for accommodations varies considerably to suit a wide variety of different budgets. Many prospective spinologists prefer to share facilities for reasons of economics and companionship. Ireland sees the same range of varied accommodations.

5- Are grants, loans, scholarships or other financial aids available? Spinology does not yet have any such programs of its own, and outside help always seems to have strings attached which jeopardize freedom. However, our minimal school day hours and the fact that most of the theoretical aspect of the education is acquired in the classroom, allow our students to maintain full-time or part-time jobs while attending, without affecting their studies.

6- Are correspondence courses available? No. The practice of Spinology is a skill which must be learned by regular hands-on-training and practice.

7- Does one need physical strength to become a spinologist? Absolutely not. Spinology requires skill and sensitivity, not brute strength. It therefore offers exceptional career opportunities to both men and women, regardless of their physical stature.

8- Can a handicapped person become a Spinologist? Certain handicaps such as loss of both hands may prevent one from becoming a spinologist, while others such as blindness or loss of lower body control may not be a problem at all. Therefore, each situation will be evaluated individually.

9- Is there a possibility of advanced standing for courses completed at healing arts schools? Generally not, although each application will be evaluated upon its merits. Any applicant requesting advanced standing should submit in writing full details of the basis of such a request.

10- What is your grading policy? Letter or numerical grading tends to pit one person against another in competition for the honor of being at the top of the class, or to avoid the embarrassment of being at the bottom. We are not interested in making comparisons, but rather, in training each individual to become the best spinologist she or he can become. We, therefore, have only two grades: ready-to-continue, or not-yet-ready-to-continue. Each individual thus proceeds at his or her own pace until each stage is mastered before moving on to the next.

11- What is your refund policy? After having covered the first five modules of the course, any discontinuation for any reason is accompanied by a 100% refund of the tuition. Only the 500€ application fee, plus a quantity proportional to the number of classes received, are not refundable.

12- What are the academic requirements and screening procedures for admission? Consistent with our philosophy concerning human potential, our policy is to open our doors to all who have, or are able to develop, the necessary aptitudes regardless of prior educational background. We do not want to exclude any capable person because of lack of such background. Further, we are not satisfied that any combination of aptitude or achievement tests scores can predict performance. Reliance upon such scores might permit some good test-takers to be accepted, and some good future spinologists to be rejected. Such intangibles as interest, enthusiasm and sensitivity are of paramount importance. We have, therefore, chosen to use the first five modules of the training program itself as the screening procedure. In this way, school and enrollee may appraise and evaluate each other. If termination of training is decided by either the enrollee or the school, tuition fees will be refunded in accordance to the policy stated previously.

13- Is the practice of Spinology legal everywhere? To our knowledge no regulations exist in Europe or elsewhere to restrict the practice of Spinology. In Spain, for instance, the profession has started satisfactorily its protocol towards regulation. Eventually, irish spinologists will soon follow the same path. In other countries of Europe it is just a matter of adapting the practice of Spinology to their regulations without jeopardizing the philosophy of the profession. The U.S.A. has stated laws that differ greatly. Each state has a governing body to make specific decisions in such areas. The fact that Spinology is not being offered as a healing art facilitates the task everywhere.
The World Council of Spinologists is the body which sets the standards of practice and regulates the profession. The WCS collects annual dues from affiliate Spinologists and use those dues to promote Spinology and to protect the legal rights of Spinologists.
